Can the Chemical Cassette's Lid be removed?

No. The Chemical Cassette's lid is sealed permanently.

To access the Chemical Cassette, use the solids pull tab to open the latch.

The Chemical Cassette also features a nozzle with a cap used for tipping out the waste.
