The HOTTAP Go doesn’t have a built-in battery. It runs on 12V power using a standard 2.1mm DC connector, and comes with a DC-to-cigarette-socket cable so you can plug it straight into your car or a portable power source.
You can also pair the HOTTAP Go with the Joolca 12V Power Bank. The Power Bank has magnetic feet that let it attach directly to the HOTTAP Go and power it.
A little bit on the reason why we chose not to add a battery to the HOTTAP Go:
It would have added about $70-$100 to the price. A lot of people already have their own portable power stations, so we wanted to keep the entry cost as low as possible!
Not having a battery means that there are fewer points of failure.
Owning a good portable battery, like our Power Bank, is one of the most useful standalone pieces of gear you can own. They work great as a standalone item and can be used for a host of different applications!
We're not fans of large appliances with non-removable batteries. Having to lug the whole unit to a power point to recharge can be inconvenient, depending on how you have things set up!
