The sliding latch is designed to be air and water tight and therefore does have a decent amount of sliding resistance to ensure this seal. Having said that, if you find that over time the sliding is getting more difficult, it is possible to lubricate the seal area. We recommend using a silicone based lubricant like 'WD-40 Specialist'
