Urine is Getting Onto My Solids Latch/Solids Cassette!

  • Last Updated:

If you’ve noticed urine getting onto the solids latch and leaking into the seal mechanism, don’t worry—this can be easily fixed with a quick clean. Plus, with a few small adjustments, you can prevent it from happening in the future.

Step 1: Cleaning the Solids Latch

If urine has made its way into the latch mechanism, follow these simple steps to flush it out:

  1. Flush with Water – Pour some water over the solids latch and open and close it a few times. This helps rinse out any trapped urine inside the mechanism.
  2. Clean Between the Seals – Water can also be used to flush between the rubber solids container seals (around the opening is) to remove any trapped urine.

Step 2: Preventing Future Leaks

Using the GottaGo might take a little practice, but these tips will help keep everything clean and leak-free:

✔️ Try sitting instead of standing – If you usually stand to urinate, sitting down can help keep things cleaner and reduce splashes.

✔️ Adjust your position – Sitting upright and slightly forward works best for most people.

✔️ Keep the solids bowl open while urinating – If some urine is getting into the solids bowl or onto the latch, leave the solids bowl open so any liquid flows into the container instead.

  • If you're using an Eco Cassette, sprinkle a little substrate/litter/etc in to absorb any excess liquid.
  • If you’re using a Chem Cassette, no extra steps are needed—it’s good to go.

By following these simple steps, you’ll keep your GottaGo clean, leak-free, and working smoothly!
